Jazz singer Claudia Acuña's recent appearances at Joe's Pub revealed that she's taking an exciting new direction. With a band that features guitarist Juancho Herrera, bassist Carlos Henderson and Yayo on drums, in addition to longtime collaborator pianist Jason Linder, Acu–a is on the verge of creating a style reminiscent of the best of the jazz-fusion era (think Flora Purim) but with an entirely contemporary feel.
